Beauty magazines always seem to spout the same general pieces of advice over and over again. What they almost always fail to do is expand on their advice in a way that makes their little glimmers of wisdom truly helpful.
We’ve taken the top three pieces of advice we’ve seen recycled over and over again and expanded on them in a way that can help you take their basic, generic, age-old tip to new heights.
1. Their advice: Drink 8-10 glasses of water a day
Not just any water will do. Granted, the magazines don’t want to tell you that bottled water is bad for you when SmartWater paid an astronomical amount of money to have a sexy Jennifer Aniston ad on the next page. And with all of the horrors of unfiltered tap water out there, they certainly can’t recommend basic old tap water either. Since no one is paying for water ionizer ads to grace their glossy pages, they’re certainly not going to sing the praises of ionized alkaline water just yet.
Regardless of the politics behind the mags non-disclosure, alkaline ionized water is the healthiest water on the planet. It contains more antioxidants than a glass of OJ, and is microclustered to hydrate and detoxify in a way that bottled and tap waters couldn’t dream of. It is full of bioavailable minerals, and has a pH level that promotes overall health and wellness.
2. Their advice: Wear sunblock to prevent wrinkles and skin cancer
Our advice: Wear natural mineral sunscreen
Commercial sunscreens are loaded with acidic chemicals and artifical ingredients which are known to generate free radicals, mimic estrogen, accumulate in fat body stores, and are now being linked to cancer.
All-natural mineral sunscreens are a pricey alternative to drugstore brands, but are not nearly as expensive as conventional skin cancer treatment!
3. Their advice: Wash your face in the morning and before bed
Our advice: Wash your face with ionized acidic water in the morning and before bed
Unless you are using a whole house filtration system which strips your water of chemicals like chlorine and reduces the pH of your water by also removing the alkaline minerals, the water that comes out of your bathroom faucet is federally regulated to be at least mildly alkaline and in most cases chlorinated.
The problem with this is that our skin thrives in an acidic environment of 5.5-6.0 pH in order to fight off bacteria, and our skin absorbs 60% of the chemicals and contaminants that are applied. So not only are we using the wrong pH water on our skin but we’re adding chemicals and contaminants to it when we are supposed to be cleansing and washing away impurities!
Ionized acidic water from a water ionizer is the perfect water for washing your hands and face with because it is the right pH, and–when paired with a prefilter or whole house filtration system–is virtually chemical-free. It can leave skin smoother, softer and even reduce lines and wrinkles and act as an all-natural toner, which is why the Japanese refer to it as “beauty water.”
